The fully-automatic DK1100 Series pocket boring machines are built to perform day after day in harsh production environments. Choose from three models all built with the same rugged chassis and reliable one-step drilling operation.
All three models feature...
Kreg machines drill the pocket hole with a 3/8" diameter step bit in one
|
smooth operation. The bit is supported to the workpiece by a hardened steel drill guide that ensures tear-out free holes and consistent hole placement whether the material is oak, maple, hickory, MDF, melamine or veneered plywoods. |
 |
The flat step of the drill bit ensures that the bottom of the pocket hole is
| perfectly flat so the screw head will seat flushly in the base of the pocket.
Our drilling operation not only produces a much smaller hole than the routed hole shown at right, but also a round-sided hole that enables it to be plugged and concealed with a solid wood dowel if desired. |
 |
Operator comfort is maximized by the extremely quiet operation of all
three of our electric or air powered machines.
|
Change drill bits easily with the convenient swing-top access of the DK1100 Series as shown at right. |
 |
Choose from three models to customize to your shop setup. Air or
electric powered, benchtop or floor-standing cabinet, all with the
same industrial performance.
The Great Angle Debate...
As shown in the image at right, Kreg's 15 degree drilling method
and the 6 degree routing method
of producing a pocket hole differ
in the angle of attack. One
advantage of the 15 degree
angle is that the driver is always
in perfect alignment with the
screw head while driving the
screw, while the 6 degree angle
can run into clearance problems.
|
 |
Another aspect relating to the angle of attack is joint shift, or the tendency of the workpieces to shift out of alignment while driving a screw. In softer materials, workpieces can often be assembled by simply holding the pieces in alignment by hand. In harder materials such as oak and maple, Kreg promotes eliminating joint shift altogether by placing a quick clamp set across the joint line to safely and consistently produce perfectly flush joints. Kreg manufactures inexpensive and easy-to-use clamps and/or framing tables for this purpose. All prominent manufacturers of this type of machine also realize the benefits of clamping as they all offer a clamping solution to address this situation.
